The International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC) will be conducting two major events in the state of Florida this summer that present invaluable professional development and networking opportunities for retail and commercial real estate industry professionals.

I will have the honor of serving as the Chairman for the 2012 ICSC Florida Conference taking place at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee August 19-21. Innovation is the theme of this year’s conference, and I prepared a brief video about the event and highlighting some of the planned speakers that I will have the privilege of introducing (watch the video below). On September 27-8, ICSC and the University of Florida will present “Understanding Your Retail Clients,” which is intended to serve as a crash course in retail trends and how they affect retailers. The program is designed for upper-level managers/executives in retail-focused real estate development to gain up-to-date information about important strategic and operational trends in contemporary U.S. retailing. It will cover emerging new retail concepts and stores, store design features, customer expectations and behavior, the influence of the recent economic recession on shopping patterns, and the retail strategic profit model, which is a critical tool for managing retail performance. Founded in 1957, the International Council of Shopping Centers is the global trade association of the shopping center industry. Its 60,000 members in the U.S., Canada and more than 80 other countries include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals as well as academics and public officials. Additional information on the organization and the upcoming conferences is available at www.icsc.org.
